Well my poor cat Links developed bone cancer of his lower jaw.  I had no idea he was suffering when I took him to the vet today.  We felt it was not necessary to watch him slowly starve to death and so we took him to the edge of that rainbow bridge.  I made sure he could see me at the end and he purred for a few moments.  I cried as I watched the life of his eyes go dark.  He was a good cat, affectionate and loving.  Slept with me and the dog every night.  He will be missed.

It’s always hard to lose a companion and the vet office was very caring and helpful.  They made all of the arrangements for us.  My eleven years and 7 months with Links will always be cherished memories.  I will tell the story about how Links ran away that time, was gone for 2 years and found him eventually being taken care of by a neighbor lady.  I’m glad I got him back and had some time to spend with him.

Don’t think I’ll get another cat anytime soon.  Maybe some time in the future we’ll be ready again.
